OUR SERVICES AFFIDAVIT - HOPE is a private school operated as a proprietorship. Each fall we renew our Privates School Affidavit with the California Department of Education. FACULTY FELLOWSHIP - One parent is required, both are encouraged, to attend the September, November, January, March, and May evening faculty (parent) meetings. Guest Speakers, prayer, and sharing provide encouragement and enrichment. RECORD KEEPING - Student cumulative records (CUM) are maintained in the school office. Attendance and health records are kept as required by the state. Additional forms including Curriculum Records, Goals, Objectives and Evaluations, Course Descriptions (9th-12th), and Report Cards are mandatory for all students. CARE GROUP - Each family is placed in a Care Group led by an experienced home educator. The Care Groups sit together at the Faculty Fellowships. Some leaders schedule other opportunities for get-togethers. Faculty members (parents) meet for quarterly conferences for accountability, encouragement, and prayer. NEWSLETTER - A Bimonthly newsletter lists academy events, legal updates, educational opportunities and the latest news of interest to home educators. ACADEMY CLUB - Student activities are held one Friday in September, January, and April. A variety of historical impressionists, and speakers share their expertise assembly style with our students and parents. As appropriate, each is coordinated with a field trip. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES - Experienced staff is available for educational advice. Curriculum counseling is available for a fee. ACHIEVEMENT TESTING - Parents choose from a variety of testing and evaluating options to measure their students progress. Normed evaluations in reading, spelling and arithmetic are required for all enrolled students. One way to meet this requirement is through the Stanford Achievement Test 10 that is offered at HOPE. ORIENTATION - All first year members must attend a new member orientation to familiarize them with the polices, procedures, record keeping and completion of forms. | ASSOCIATION
OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL (ACSI) - Students have the opportunity
to participate in a variety of district wide events with students from
other Christian schools. Events included are Math Olympics, Spelling Bees,
Science Fair, Art Festival, Instrumental Music Festivals, and Jr./Sr.
High Choir Musicales.
PRESIDENTS PHYSICAL FITNESS CHALLENGE - Students participate in several exercises to improve health and performance. Working towards goals based on a national standard, qualifiers earn a certificate signed by our United States President. FIELD TRIPS - Bimonthly school-wide field trips are planned and coordinated with Academy Club for educational as well as enjoyment of the members. PROMOTIONS & GRADUATION - To honor our Lord Jesus Christ, present a positive example of home schooling for family and friends, recognize the accomplishments of our children, graduate the K, 6th, 8th, and 12th graders, and promote all other grades, this unique family celebration and open house is held one evening in June. SKATE DAY - HOPE sponsors a skate day at Fountain Valley Skate Center one afternoon each month. This fundraiser is open to all home educating children and parents. ACADEMY SHIRTS - Each new enrolling student receives one HOPE polo shirt after acceptance of membership. SCHOOL PICTURES - Individual as well as family pictures are professionally taken at a local studio in October. YEARBOOK - Individual family pages academy activities and events fill the memorable yearbook. |
